The rebranding comes two years after the completion of Vodafone Idea Limited and idea cellular limited merger with an exiting vi prepaid plan.

The rebranding is part of the company’s efforts to reduce cost of maintaining two brands

In the new logo of Vodafone-Idea the inverted “i” of idea has been unified with a “v” of Vodafone.Where the red colour of the company’s previous logo has been retained.

Together it will be read as “we”. The name vi is much more than the abbreviation of Vodafone and idea.

They have also proposed a new vi prepaid plan.

“Vi” read as we reflect the collective nature of Indian society it is not just about me it is especially about “we”. Vodafone-idea said that in press release.

The announcement was made by Ravinder Takkar, MD & CEO Vodafone idea who also said that as the integration of the two brands is complete it’s time for a fresh start.the rebranding initiative by the telecom company comes amid intense competition in the country’s telecom sector and amid piles of debt.the integration of two brands is a culmination of the largest telecom integration in the world, the company said in a statement.
